August 23, 2015 Checking in on the Pumpkins

We're hoping for a good pumpkin harvest this year in time for the 10th Anniversary Party give-away. A little concerned after last year's bounty (over 60 pumpkins) that this year's crop may not yield as many. Some flowers are not developing at all and some are just starting.

I drove the gator between the creek and cornfield so Jeff could hop on and off and clip trees and brush that hung over the path.

August 14-15, 2015 Lower Tee Box Patio

The lower tee box had a manicured green and custom storage box but needed a nice patio for spectators who didn't want to sit in dirt and weeds. Dan and Jeff cleared the area, then added sand and placed bricks for a great result.

There's still a good amount of water in the creek, this late in the summer.

July 26-27, 2015 Company Weekend

Whenever Susan visits her parents in Michigan, she puts Covo on her list of places to visit. This year, she flew from Sacramento to Chicago on Friday night so we could pick her up, then meet Aunt Rita and Uncle Palmer at the farm the next day. Susan raises chickens on a parcel of land in Placerville and is a coordinator for UC Master Gardeners Food Preserver Programs, so she loves being in the country and helping out with day projects.

July 15, 2015 Darth Gator

Covo Hills has a fancy new four-passenger John Deere vehicle with seat belts, a sun cover and cargo space in the rear. Dan requested Camo instead of the typical green and yellow. We love it!

June 23 & 24, 2015 Pumpkin Planting and Other Projects

Katie flew home from Sedona for almost a week, a post Father's Day present. It's not often we have Katie's help at the farm, so Deena and I enlisted her to plant pumpkins before enjoying happy hour on the upper tee box. It's a great place to enjoy the late afternoon sunshine.

Jeff enlisted Katie's help the next day to build a rustic wood storage unit that holds golf clubs and ball on the lower tee box.

June 10, 2015 New Tee Box

Jeff tries out the next lower tee box that he and Dan installed for less experienced golfers. It still has the amazing view!

Meanwhile, work continues on the covered bridge. Since the goal is to reuse and repurpose materials from the historic milking barn, Jeff is hauling over large rocks to create a decorative facade for the foundation.
