October 26-27, 2014 Partners Overnight

A chilly but mostly pleasant autumn weekend for garlic planting, a little work and a lot of fun, including a trip to the new restaurant in town called Molly's.  Ribollita, the sauteed root vegetable patty, was very tasty!

November 13, 2014 A bit of history dating back to 1879

This pulley, dated December 16, 1879, has been relocated from the old milking barn to the lodge.

If you look closely, there's another date located on the top of the pulley: April 5 - Deena's Birthday!

October 4, 2014 Pumpkin Harvesting with Terri and Len

The weather started out a little cooler and cloudier than expected but brightened up in the afternoon for our day trip to Covo Hills with Terri and Len. We appreciated the extra help harvesting pumpkins, which were large and plentiful. Of all the people who have visited Covo, Terri is one who feels most at home. A farm girl at heart, she was raised near her family's farms in tiny New Canton, IL., just east of the Mississippi and south of Mark Twain's boyhood home in Hannibal, Missouri.

Before the harvest, Jeff planted this tree transported from Meadowbrook Lane. The photo will document just how huge the tree grows!
